We spent 4 great days here attending a series of seminars, having meals and cocktail parties together, going on a Chamber of Commerce shopping excursion, and attending a wonderful concert given by local musicians at a beautiful bed and breakfast inn.
There were several hundred attendees at this Rendezvous which was "sold out". We shared knowledge and information with each other about this incredible "Great Loop" journey and made new friends. The attendees ranged from those who had done the trip several times, to those who are in the process, to those who are still in the planning or "dreaming about" stage. At any rate, we were happy we were there!
We also enjoyed making the acquaintance of Sallyann and Andrew Newton, who own "Freedom", an American Tug 34'. Pat had briefly met Sallyann at Green Turtle Bay Marina in Grand Rivers, Kentucky when we were there in September. She was originally a "Jersey Girl", but after Andrew's recent retirement they put their Illinois house up for sale and started out on their "Great Loop" trip only a few weeks ago. They, too, are headed to Marathon, Florida for the winter, so we decided that it might be fun for us to be "buddy boats" on our trip south which we will begin early tomorrow.
On this last evening of the Rendezvous we also opened our boat up for the "Looper Crawl" which is comparable to an "open house" event. Many people toured "Reflection", and we were thrilled with all their positive comments about our vessel!
