5/27/10 – Little River, South Carolina

Ready to go back in the water.

"Reflection" is back where she belongs.

Last night and this morning George had several conference calls with Bo, the previous owner of our boat. He got some additional tips on how the boatyard should correctly lift “Reflection” with her blocks, and then he discussed them with the yard manager. George also found out that the marina staff had stayed and worked on the fiberglass repair until 9 p.m. last evening, and we really appreciated their efforts in attempting to remedy this mishap. In the early afternoon we got a call from the yard that they were again ready to launch “our girl”. As we quickly left the hotel for what we hoped would be the final time, we were picked up by a marina staff member and taken by golf cart to the “launch site.”

“Reflection” and we definitely got the “kid glove” treatment as she was now slowly, carefully, and gently lowered into the water and we were then assisted on board. Everyone now held their breaths as we started up the engines and backed out of the travel-lift and into our own dock area at the marina. The engines sounded great, and the new props and shaft had no vibration! We were now “happy campers”! This, indeed, was a great day, so we celebrated with drinks and dinner at “Captain Poo’s” in anticipation of continuing our journey tomorrow.
