On his walk this morning, George discovered the town of Lakefield only a short distance from where we had the boat tied up at Lock 26. Unfortunately we missed it because of the rain last evening and the dense foliage near the lock wall which hid it. If we had known that their local ice cream parlor had 55 flavors we would definitely have made an effort to walk there! Today we only went through one lock and headed to Stoney Lake.
The scenery there was completely breath-taking with many rock islands and some with homes on them. Evidently this was a small pre-cursor to what we will see eventually in Georgian Bay. Our destination here was Viamede Resort, an old hotel which has a marina, restaurant, pool, beach, watercraft, walking trails, and riding stables. Because of the cool temperatures and overcast skies, we only took advantage of having dinner at the resort, but it was a great day to relax in a beautiful setting.
Hi Folks: Hope your weather is dryer than it has been here. @5 days of June it rained. Locks look like a great time. Wish I was there.
